Hello, my name is Billy Arnold and I help run a youth running club under the Racine Youth Sports umbrella. We started the group last year and we had 44 kids register, and then we consistently had 25 kids at practice at every practice. We had so many people that wanted to join after we started that we have decided to cap our total number at 80 runners this year. Our running club is open to all kids from 9 years old through high school and every level of experience. We really concentrate on making running fun for the kids, and showing them that this is something they can do the rest of their lives. Every practice we warm-up, do some agility drills, then do a run for a certain amount of time, then we do some fun relays or games, and of course we cool down and stretch at the end. This year we will be attending two free track meets put on by the Badgerland Striders in June, and July, and then we will attend the Parkside Summer CC Classic the first weekend in August. Our first practice will be June 8th, and run through the first week of August. We practice from 5:30 to 7:00 3 days each week. Monday is at Pritchard park, Wednesday is at Johnson park, and Thursday is at Lockwood park. We group the kids by ability, and make the groups even according to how many adult team leaders we have, but we also try to make the groups as small as possible. Our biggest concern is having eyes on each and every runner at all times during practice and this is where you might come in. We are asking to see if any of you might be interested in helping with our running club? We have a great group of people on the board, but we are in need of more team leaders to help keep our groups small, and safe. The basic practice layout is already in place. we just need positive, and enthusiastic people to come help spread the fun of running with us. If this sounds like it may be fun to you, please feel free to call me at 262-498-0274 and I can answer any questions that you may have. You can also go and click on the running club tab to see more information about our club.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from some of you.
