Run/Walk for Saturday, Jan. 29

There was quite a few discussions about where to run this week and we finally decided that we will run Wrath of the Aged (aka Park View run).  Parking can be found at the corner of Michigan and Goold (map here).

Saturday 1/15 run/walk

Well coffee was packed on Saturday…I think everyone turned out to see Tony's new coffee mug!!

It was decided that we will run the "Tower's Run" soon to be renamed the "Dunn Brothers Run" since we can't park in the tower's parking lot anymore.  Park here…which is either on the street or in the parking ramp…please do not park in the Towers lot!!

Bill tells me that there was a good turn out in spite of the rains. Stalwarts or crazy. Still haven’t figured that out yet.

This week: The Towers. You will note that there is now a gate at the Tower so plan on parking in the parking ramp across the street.

As most of you know I only post this after I receive the email from Jud but seeing how a number of people have already begun emailing what time they would be running I thought that I'd at least post the location…I'll post Jud's email once it arrives.

This week we will be doing the Park View run (aka "Wrath of the Aged") park here. Normal time 7:00 am. Coffee at Dunn Brothers?

Carrie and Greg are starting at 4:30 (shooting for 20 miles)

Colleen and Melissa are starting at 5:30 (shooting for 12-15)

7:00 am is the standard start time…if you'll be starting early post a note so that we can try to be sure to make sure you are okay at some point along the way!

Perhaps with today's snow fall some of us can squeeze in one more cross country ski, but it seems unlikely.

With the snow we now have an alternative to the walk/ run. We can cross country ski! 14" of snow can't be all that bad if we can have a chance to ski this weekend.

To start with, I hope many of you were able to get to Dan DeMatthew's benefit at Roma Lodge. We were there at 5 PM and were stunned at the magnificent turn out. The support shown for our old running partner was overwhelming. What a testament to the spirit of Racine.

It will be a little chilly, but will be our last run on January. How soon will it be when we will be worried about the heat instead. Dream on, Jud.

I hope most of you had a chance to see the Journal Times Article about Dan DeMatthew. The timing was perfect. Last Saturday afternoon as I sat in the barber chair I saw a post for a fund raiser for Dan. January 24, 11AM to 6PM there is a spaghetti dinner at Roma Lodge for Dan. Tickets are $10 for an adult, $5.00 for kids and kid under 4 no charge. This is a great way to show our support for our running buddy and have a good meal thrown in to boot. I hope all of us and our families will be able to make this event.

We made a decision at coffee this week. Next week Saturday’s run will be the reverse Colonial, the pleasure of the Colonial Run but avoiding the buggy area.

Smart people stay at home and come by Dunn Bros. for coffee.
